Tuesday 17 March at 8:30pm

“Don’t tell anyone. They won’t believe you. I’m a priest.”

From Tuesday 17 March on the ABC, award-winning reporter Sarah Ferguson presents Revelation, a ground-breaking documentary series on the criminal priests and brothers of the Catholic Church, their crimes laid bare for the first time in their own words.

In a series of television firsts, Revelation features interviews with two of Australia’s worst serial paedophiles – an ordained priest and a religious brother – and takes cameras into court to follow the drama of their criminal trials.

Ferguson’s compelling interviews are the first insiders’ accounts of the system of protection and cover-up that allowed its members to get away with such heinous crimes for so long.

“There was always a voice we didn’t hear in this unfolding story, that of the priests and brothers themselves. It drove me to seek out the perpetrators. I met a challenge unlike any I have ever come across, in bristling encounters where I had to fight for the truth with men still conditioned to protect the church.” Sarah Ferguson

Follow Ferguson into a maximum-security prison to meet the most notorious member of one of the most notorious religious orders. Join her as she travels to Ireland and the Vatican to ask senior church figures to explain the evil in their midst.

The unmissable final chapter airing on Tuesday 31 March is a cinematic, feature-length event, transporting you to the heart of power in the global Catholic church. This is the story of a man who has kept a shocking secret for decades. Until now.

Revelation is a three-part documentary series airing weekly from Tuesday 17 March at 8:30pm on ABC TV and iview.

Revelation is an In Films production for the ABC. Major production investment from Screen Australia, in association with Screen NSW. ABC Commercial holds worldwide distribution rights.

thrilling cases.

Episode one: The Lost Gainsborough – Tuesday 24 March, 9.30pm

The frame is scattered with labels offering clues to a promising provenance trail but an X-ray reveals a secret that could be a major stumbling block. The team build up a dossier of evidence but will it be enough to convince the leading Gainsborough expert that this is a lost landscape by the great artist?

Episode two: Cosway Or Lawrence – Tuesday 31 March
The team investigate an 18th century family portrait. For generations the owners have believed it’s the work of the pioneering woman artist Maria Cosway, but could it be an undiscovered portrait by the great Regency artist Sir Thomas Lawrence?

Indigenous comedian Steph Tisdell will host this year’s Melbourne International Comedy Festival Gala, to be held on March 18 and broadcast on the ABC later.

Van Der Valk

From Saturday 4 April at 8:30pm

Marc Warren stars as a streetwise Dutch detective in this three- part detective series filmed entirely on location in Amsterdam.

VAN DER VALK centres on the investigations of detective Piet Van der Valk in and around the city of Amsterdam as he investigates a series of high-profile cases. Van der Valk and his team are immersed in the worlds of art, politics, addiction, mysticism and the fashion industry.

The original series, set in the 1970s and 90s was loosely based on the novels by Nicolas Freeling and provided British audiences with their first truly international detective - a complex, thoughtful and ‘real’ sleuth who tackled tough crimes against a picturesque Dutch backdrop. The new series re imagines VAN DER VALK in the contemporary world of Amsterdam and follows an engaging, unapologetic and street-smart detective as he leads his dynamic team in solving a raft of mysterious crimes using astute human observation and inspired detection.

VAN DER VALK stars Marc Warren (Safe, Mad Dogs Snatch, Hustle) stars as Piet Van der Valk, with Maimie McCoy (The Three Musketeers) as Lucienne Hassell, his gutsy and fiercely competent right hand woman. Luke Allen-Gale (Dominion), Elliot Barnes-Worrell(Jericho), Darrell D’Silva (Strike Back) and Emma Fielding (Les Miserables) complete the team. Guest starring Kees Boot (Judas), Reinout Bussemaker (Flight HS73), Frances Grey (Home Fires), Daniel Lapaine (The Durrells), tephanie Leonidas (Snatch), Mike Libanon (Kill Switch), Vineeta Rishi (Line of Duty) and Tom York (Poldark).
