They have so little news on Classic now that I actually look forward to the 5 minute dollop that comes on at 4pm!
Yes, I think it is only on at 7am, 8am, 4pm and 5pm? Also the longer majestic fanfare at 5pm is nice to hear. Have they always done the long theme in the afternoons? I only recall the 7am bulletin having it previously.
Adelaide still only has it at 7am
Brisbane this week:
Breakfast - Bill McDonald and Kat Feeney
Mornings - Steve Austin
Afternoons - Zach Mander
Drive - Kelly Higgins-Devine
Evenings - Sally Rope
Weekend Mornings (Sat and Sun) - Georgina Prior (including this past weekend).
Joel Spreadborough hosted Saturday Breakfast just gone, which also covered several regional areas as well. It included a farewell tribute featuring past presenters and producers, of the 612 Saturday Breakfast program, as well as Costa and Jerry Coleby-Williams from Gardening Australia, sending well wishes to retiring Gardening Talkback expert Annette McFarlane.
âThe ABC is preparing to roll out AI to staff, including running a trial to use AI to help write digital news, as it tries to embrace a technology many Australians distrust⌠Last month, ABC executives told staff the broadcaster had updated its AI guidelines, struck a deal with Anthropic, the company behind Claude, and begun trialling a tool that turns regional radio bulletins into online articles.â
The Australian reports
While (Kyle) Sandilands and (Jackie) Henderson have stolen all the headlines since ARN tore up their separate $100m, 10-year deals and punted their âradio gone rogueâ breakfast show, the networkâs decision to dump Mander â and the family-friendly funnymanâs national weeknight program â 10 months earlier is yet another comic misstep by the entertainment outfit.
Still, ARNâs loss is the ABCâs gain, and weâre pleased to see the all-round radio good guy has returned to the airwaves while fronting the public broadcasterâs afternoon offering in the Queensland capital ⌠at least for the next three weeks.
Whatâs more, heâs already landed a big scoop for the station, with the short-term seat warmer joking he has already convinced the ABCâs biggest stars, the ÂBananas in Pyjamas, to sit down with him to break their silence over their banana split.
Libbi Gorr has announced she will be hosting Weekend Nightlife this week and next.
In Sydney/NSW Renee Krosch is doing Afternoons with Rae Johnston to do Evenings.
Chris Taylor will host Mornings on Wednesday.
Good old Libbi Gorr.
How many times has she been back to Auntie now? The revolving door spins again.
At least sheâll be paid. Unlike her last radio gig.
I think the 5pm is a simulcast of the ten minute bulletin (or the first half of it) from News Radio, hence the extended theme.
ABC Melbourne will broadcast some of its programs live from Realm Library in Ringwood from July 21 to 23. The library is located on Maroondah Highway, between Eastland shopping centre and Ringwood railway station.
I only heard it in the app stream so most likely. I didnât know news radio had a ten minute bulletin at 5. Interesting, they should do the same for local radio. That way thereâs a ten minute bulletin at 7 and 5.
I assume the news on NewsRadio at 5pm is a national read? That wouldnât work on Local.
5pm was a 10.mimute bulletin until the early 2000s I think.
Francis Leach has been named overnight as the successor to Trevor Chappell on Overnights from August.
Was hoping for the lovely Ashwin Segkar but Francis is all right
It was also announced on the program that Ashwin will be continuing to present the weekend shows until December.
Sydney/NSW again; Mark Humphries will present Afternoons on Monday/Tuesday next week, James OâLoughlin will return on Wednesday.
