Tonight’s awards ceremony started at 6pm AEDT and around 10-15 awards have been handed out by 7.30pm. Beware of spoilers on social media. EDIT: the ceremony finished at around 8.30pm. ---

Not sure if it is usual practice but all the award winners have been released by AACTA on their web site. As usual the television awards largely at odds with popular TV viewing patterns. This year AACTA tweets the winners (on delay) as they are revealed during Seven’s broadcast. It’s Inside Film magazine which tweeted the winners in real time, hours before the broadcast. ---

I don’t understand why they publicly release the entire winners’ list ahead of their presentation. Award ceremonies are boring enough to start with without removing the winners’ reveal. ---

Just finished watching the awards telecast. It was well produced. They showed the winners’ speeches in full (when they appeared on stage), unlike the past couple of years when they were edited. And Stephen Curry’s auditions for classic Australian films were very funny. ---

It looked like they edited Bryan Brown’s speech though. Was it too long or did he say something inappropriate? The audience was laughing after whatever he said. ---

Networks to win awards were Foxtel, ABC, SBS, Ten, Netflix and Stan. No awards for the two most popular networks including the telecast partner Seven who I would think would be unimpressed. ---

In the past, Seven showed the awards out of order, and edited the awards quite heavily, and quite noticable too. Apart from an obvious edit in Bryan Brown’s speech, tonights show looked more polished. Stephen Curry did a good job hosting the aactas overall. Good to see mulitple wins to Mystery Road and Riot. ---

What was the story with Julia Zemiro and someone else calling the AACTA awards “AHctahs” when everyone else calls them “actahs”? ---
