2020 Ratings Predictions

Family Feud was a few thousand short of 250k last Sunday, so it actually wouldn’t surprise me if it dips below 200k tonight.

Of course, I’d probably expect The Block to be the night’s #1 show. They probably won’t, but Ten really needs to schedule The Masked Singer on Sunday nights against Nine’s product placement fest next year IMO.

Sunday September 13:

The Block: 900k
New Monty Guys and Gals: 800k
Freeman (ABC): 789k
Family Feud: 215k

Full Monty nights actually topped the ratings and won Seven the night when they aired.

However for this reason, I think fatigue will have set in and ratings will be significantly down, though 10 not providing any competition and Block being down may help, there’s also the Cathy Freeman doco on the ABC.

All New Monty Guys and Gals: 775k metro (it should at least do considerably better than POO). Key demos will be interesting, I reckon a large Over 55s and regional audience will help them.

The Masked Singer Finale would drop slightly from last year but will still help win the night for 10.

It may seem strange as it sounds, but I think Plate of Origin have a good chance to outrate Body Hack tonight, considering the latter barely reached 300,000 viewers in the 8.30pm timeslot last year.

Plate of Origin 0.35m

The Block 0.79m
Halifax: Retribution 0.49m

In response to a long range ratings prediction:

Agreed, that should result in absolute blockbuster ratings for Nine’s key markets of Sydney and South East Queensland.

Mind you, I’m not quite sure how well the 2020 NRL Grand Final is likely to rate in Queensland since none of those three teams have been playing that well this year. But from a Sydney ratings perspective, I reckon Nine would absolutely love it if current NRL competition leaders* the Penrith Panthers managed to make it!

*Yes, I know lots can change between now and the finals series what with injuries and everything else. But here and now…

I think it’s safe to say that the NRL Grand Final will see a shocking number for Seven News Sydney!

In the same way that the AFL Grand Final will most likely be a bad night for Nine News Melbourne! I say most likely only because this year the AFL won’t be leading into the news due to the night timeslot, but I still have a feeling that Seven Melbourne will take out the night.

And I think an AFL grand final at the Gabba will actually rate well in Brisbane, for the novelty if nothing else. Imagine if Brisbane was in the final!

sorry for almost never commenting here in recent years, used to be a daily regular

Tonight could be interesting and close again, last week actually was within ~1% between Seven and Nine’s main channels, oddly it was Seven’s multi-channels that let them down (having one less and 7Two having another bad Sunday performance).

Tonight I reckon The Block and Monty will be relatively on par give or take a few tens of thousands. I think Seven’s multi-channel line-up is also the stronger one tonight, also called by 30min of AFL landing in prime time in Perth. Seven have AFL lead-in and Seven News. All New Monty should increase in its second two performance eps but not so sure it will.

Could come down to how well the after 8:30pm shows perform (which tend to be more fickle), as well as how well ABC’s Rupert Murdoch doco goes (Freeman did really well last week - but will the same audience tune in, possibly even more but maybe much less)?

Seven to possibly win overall, Nine to just win main channel

I can’t seem to find the correct page to post this…

I would love to know the Adelaide ratings between 10 News First and 9 News at 5pm for the past week please?

Apologise if it’s not in the correct page.

Monday September 21
It will be a competitive night. I am afraid it won’t be a happy 200th episode for HYBPA due to a low lead-in and live AFL. The Block will be huge tonight.
