Whether the BBL can beat the tennis depends on the performance of the home team (Perth Scorchers). If One hits around 20% share in Perth, then Ten may have a chance of winning the night in network share.

BBL semi-final 1: Scorchers v Stars
session 1: 0.67m, session 2: 0.82m, post game 0.46m

Australian Open night session 0.87m
Australian Open night session late 0.45m

Hot Seat 0.39m (5pm section), 0.57m (5.30pm section)
Animals Unexpected 0.43m
Movie: Cast Away rpt 0.39m

Competitive night betwewn the tennis and cricket, the latter will do better with younger viewers obviously and like @JohnsonTV said, ratings will depend on which is more thrilling and if Federer is winning…

No. 1 network: Ten

No. 1 main channel: Ch 7 (just)

•Australian Open (Night 9): 875k
•Australian Open (Night 9, late): 400k

•Cricket - BBL Semi Final 1 (Session 2): 850k
•Cricket - BBL Semi Final 1 (Session 1): 675k

•Animals Unexpected: 450k
•“Cast Away” (movie - Ch 9): 325k

No. 1 multi-channel: ONE

ONE will be huge, thanks to WA & the BBL Semi-Final…

@TV.Cynic
Apart from the Australian Open, are there any other programs that rate ~400+ late at night (9pm or 10pm) onwards during the year?

It’s very impressive, especially the other day when nearly 600k were still up late watching Roger Federer win an epic (with 200k+ in one market alone)!

Huge number of 9pm programs rated double that and there were many at 10pm as well. Wanted episode 2 comes to mind with 760,000? Lip Synch Battle plus countless others.

I also think the Ashes series in England rated quite high late at night a few years back.

Tennis should beat cricket tonight.

Australian of the Year 2017 0.51m (ABC)

Australian Open night session 0.85m
Australian Open late 0.24m

BBL semi final 2: Heat v Sixers
session 1: 0.65m, session 2: 0.77m, super over: 1.02m

RBT rpt 0.53m
20 to One rpt 0.37m

With the super over in the BBL semi-final, I think there’ll be a late night spike to Session 2’s ratings, particularly in Sydney, probably bigger shares for Ch 10 & ONE too

Thursday January 26
The all-Swiss Australian Open semi-final (Wawrinka v Federer) will generate more interest than cricket, given the one-day series has been won.

Australian Open night session 0.89m
Australian Open night session late 0.35m

One day cricket: Australia v Pakistan game 5
session 1: 0.76m, session 2: 0.87m

Australia Day Live from the Sydney Opera House 0.36m

Tennis semi-final with thw two Swiss champs (Federer and Wawrinka) should dominate tonight’s television viewing…

No. 1 main channel: Ch 7

•Australian Open (Night 11): 925k

•Cricket - Fifth ODI (Session 1): 575k

•Australia Day (Ch 10): 450k

No. 1 multi-channel: 7Two (just)

Should be close amongst the multi-channels, but I think 7Two will get over the line with a strong tennis performance between 6pm and 7pm + their other solid programming…

•Australian Open (Night 11, 7Two): 175k?

•“Red Dog” (movie - 9Go!): 200k
•“Tracks” (movie - ONE): 175k

Absolutely! I can’t wait, was talking to both family and mates about the match today

Friday the 27th of January 2017

The tennis semi-final will dominate tonight with Nadal, Seven might have an even bigger win than last night (thanks to no competition at all)…

No. 1 network: Seven

No. 1 main channel: Ch 7

•The Living Room - Summer: 350k
•Graham Norton: 325k

Tennis in WA + from 6pm-7pm elsewhere should give 7Two a boost. Otherwise could be close amongst the multi-channels, lots of movies on of course…

haha, I am aware of that.

Am just going on “prelim numbers”. Ten adjusts its 20/20 numbers the next day. There are some official numbers on twitter the next day too. We’ll see what happens in the morning. Lol.

Another huge night of sport tonight. I think more people will be watching the BBL final instead of Williams sisters contesting the Australian Open singles title. Perth will lead the charge for the cricket ratings.

BBL final: Scorchers v Sixers
Preview show: 0.45m, session 1: 0.91m, session 2: 1.2m, post match presentation: 0.73m (assuming Scorchers win)

Australian Open: women’s singles final
Preview show: 0.61m, match: 0.91m, post-match presentation: 0.54m

Movie: Grease rpt 0.37m
Movie: Footloose rpt 0.31m

So you think the Australian Open Women’s Final will drop off from last year by ~800k :disappointed:

Saturday the 28th of January 2017

Huge night of sport, with a tennis final and the BBL cricket final. Shame they’re going head-to-head splitting the audience, it will depend on how close the match/game are, but the tennis should go very late (due to the men’s doubles final too). Also taking WA’s time zone into account…

No. 1 network: Seven

No. 1 main channel: Ch 7

•Australian Open (Women’s Final - Presentations): 1.6m
•Australian Open (Men’s Doubles): 1.45m
•Australian Open (Women’s Final): 1.4m
•Australian Open (Women’s Final - Preview): 600k

•Cricket - BBL Final (Session 2): 1m
•Cricket - BBL Final (Session 1): 950k
•Cricket - BBL Final (pre-game show): 575k

•“Grease” (premiere movie - Ch 9): 400k
