Tuesday the 17th of January 2016

It’ll be very competitive between the tennis and cricket tonight, especially in Melbourne (with the Stars playing at the 'G)…

No. 1 network: Seven

No. 1 main channel: Ch 7

•Cricket - BBL Game 28 (Session 2): 825k
•Cricket - BBL Game 28 (Session 1): 725k

•Tennis - Australian Open (Night 2): 750k
•Tennis - Australian Open (Night 2, late): 425k

•Ch 9’s rubbish at 7.30: 475k
•“The Other Guys” (movie - Ch 9): 325k

No. 1 multi-channel: ONE

Key demos will be close between ONE & 7Flix (Big Bang Theory repeats). GEM will be bigger thanks to a movie & 7Two should be solid thanks to the tennis (depending)…

•“Domestic Disturbance” (movie - ONE): 175k
•“Mr Wischer” (movie - GEM): 150k

Tuesday January 17
Australian Open night session 0.64m

BBL: Stars v Heat
session 1: 0.65m, session 2: 0.77m

Cats v Dogs: Which is Best? 0.43m
Movie: The Other Guys rpt 0.37m

Very early prediction (just so I don’t have to think carefully and calculate this again)

If an Aussie (or even two Aussies) make the 2017 Australian Open Men’s Final:

•3.65m (metro)

Syd: 1.025m, Melb: 1.45m, Bris: 525k, Adel: 300k & Per: 350k.

NB/
Also based off the 2005 Australian Open Men’s Final ratings, factoring in the current TV environment & the trend over recent years with the Aus Open.

Any thoughts? :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Luke Dennihy has tweeted that he has seen the first two episodes of Married With First Sight and that they are very strong and he “is hooked.”

I just don’t think they’ll cause My Kitchen Rules too much issue overall, 25 to 54 could be interesting though

We wouldn’t want you to have to do that :stuck_out_tongue:

Wednesday the 18th of January 2017

Again tonight’s all about the tennis (number of Aussies playing) & BBL cricket…

No. 1 network: Seven

No. 1 main channel: Ch 7

•Tennis - Australian Open (Night 3): 800k
•Tennis - Australian Ooen (Night 3, late): 400k

•Cricket - BBL Game 29 (Session 2): 750k
•Cricket - BBL Game 29 (Session 1): 625k

•RBT: 525k
•20 to One: 450k

No. 1 multi-channel: ONE (just ahead of 9Go! & 9Gem)

BBL cricket in two markets and a movie should see another massive share for ONE, but there is a classic film on 9Go! and DCI Banks rated well on 9Gem last week…

•“Flying High” (movie - 9Go!): 190k
•DCI Banks (9Gem): 160k
•“Exodus” (movie - ONE): 155k

Tennis should do a lot better tonight with Kyrgios and Tomic matches back-to-back from 7pm-midnight AEDT. Plus the BBL match held little interest with the Adelaide Strikers unable to qualify.

It is a big news day today with Donald Trump’s inauguration as US President and the fallout from yesterday’s Melbourne CBD car rampage continues. Seven News and Nine News should reach the 800,000 mark easily.

Sunday the 22nd of January 2017

ODI cricket was one sided again today/tonight & the tennis match with Federer has turned out to be a 5 set thriller, so accordingly…

No. 1 network: Seven

No. 1 main channel: Ch 7 (just)

•Tennis - Australian Open (Night 7): 900k
•Tennis - Australian Open (Night 7, late): 400k

•Cricket - Fourth ODI (Session 2): 900k
•Cricket - Fourth ODI (Session 1): 550k

•“The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel” (movie - Ch 10): 350k
•“The Monuments Men” (movie - Ch 10): 250k

No. 1 multi-channel: ONE (just)

Should be close amongst the multi-channels, lots of movies on. 7Two will do very well from 6pm - 7pm, but none after that & no BBL cricket on ONE. I think the movie on ONE will have the most eyes across its broadcast…

•“All The Good Things” (movie - ONE): 175k

Careful @JohnsonTV

–

I was still wrong too, even after updating my prediction, Ch 7 (main channel) didn’t just win, it owned the night.

Monday the 23rd of January 2017

Seven will dominate, thanks to Australia’s Daria Gavrilova aiming for the Australian Open quarter finals tonight (as well as Nadal up later) & no competition from Nine or Ten…

No. 1 network: Seven

No. 1 main channel: Ch 7

•Tennis - Australian Open (Night 8): 1.1m
•Tennis - Australian Open (Night 7, late): 600k

•“Star Trek - Into Darkness” (movie - Ch 10): 375k
•“Lethal Weapon 3” (movie - Ch 9): 350k

No. 1 multi-channel: 7Two

7Two will be masaive, with the Australian Open between 6pm and 7pm, as well as popular programs returning + a movie on ONE should rate well…

•“Under Siege 2” (movie - ONE): 190k

I certainly underestimated Roger Federer’s popularity last night.

Monday January 23
There should be a great deal of interest on the new format of Hot Seat which starts today. However Seven will dominate tonight with no live cricket against the tennis.
