Great songs heard on radio

Today on River 94.9:
Mental as Anything,“Let’s Go to Paradise” 1986
Martha Davis (lead singer of the band Motels)“Don’t Tell Me the Time” 1988

Managed to hear this song on Triple M Sydney at 1:30pm today:

“Epic” - Faith No More

I know I am a bit late with this one, but I heard this on the same station two weeks ago:

“Calypso” - Spiderbait.

IMO, it’s a shame that “Black Betty” is the only Spiderbait song which is primarily played by the commercial-FM stations. The band have plenty of other great hits, but they are only played on a very rare occasion or not at all.

Today on WS’s “80s Lunch”:

“All Cried Out” Alison Moyet
"Our House" Madness
"Lay Your Hands On Me" Bon Jovi (an unflogged song of theirs)
“Stray Cat Strut” Stray Cats
"Now We’re Getting Somewhere" Crowded House

Elsewhere on the dial today:

“The Whole of the Moon” The Waterboys - Triple M Sydney, just after 11am
"Only When I’m Sleeping" Leonardo’s Bride - Smooth FM, around 2:30pm
"Human Nature" Michael Jackson - Smooth FM, around 2:50pm

Great River 94.9 today:
Bad English,“When I See You Smile” 1990
Phil Collins,“I Missed Again” 1981 an unflogged song by him.I’m sick of hearing “In the Air Tonight” or “Against All Odds”
(The late great)Michael Jackson,"Don’t Stop Till You Get Enough"1979
John Mellencamp,“The Authority Song” not sure what year
Jimmy Barnes,“When Your Love Has Gone” 1991,this track features his children singing backup vocals as the "Tin Lids"
The Rembrandts ,“That’s Just the Way it Is” 1991,this group are more well known for their hit of the theme song from the TV show “Friends”

A couple of noteworthy tracks from the Rebel over the past few days:

Ramones - Rockaway Beach
Judas Priest - Turbo Lover
Metallica - One
Simple Minds - Belfast Child

Crush - Jennifer Paige (on Smooth 95.3 Sydney)

Missing - Everything But The Girl (on 2GO Gosford)

Man Alive - Diesel (on Triple M Sydney)

The last one I haven’t heard on the radio for ages

Led Zeppelin - Babe I’m Gonna Leave You - Rebel 90.5 (I reckon one of Zep’s best, which may not be much of a compliment given it’s a cover)
Chocolate Starfish - You’re So Vain - River 949 (speaking of covers - it was like I was back in 1994 hearing that cover again)

Also should add that Rebel is giving Violent Soho a good flogging of late, which is excellent and exactly what a station claiming to play modern rock music should be

4KQ has had a seventies weekend with plenty of hits not heard in a long time and rare choices e.g. when they say The Raspberries are coming up, you think you know what is going to be played but then Let’s Pretend comes on; or Skyhooks and they play You Just Like Me Cause I’m Good in Bed.

Take that list of 4KQ’s 70s music and play it on 2CH in Sydney. And make smooth, Triple M and WSFM a little nervous.

Imagine Deep Purple and AC/DC on 2CH.

The Masters Apprentices - Turn Up Your Radio, on Double J this morning

They have been known to play Led Zep’s “Stairway To Heaven”, so the likes of Deep Purple and AC/DC airing on 2CH one of these days isn’t that far fetched perhaps.

So instead of Stairway to Heaven - Highway to Hell! :joy:

From the past few days:

Regurgitator - Black Bugs (Rebel)
Inxs - To Look At You (4MMM) - this ones is a particularly underplayed gem
Metallica - Master of Puppets (again, Rebel, and again absolutely wicked)
Led Zeppelin - Ramble On (Rebel)
Powderfinger - The Day You Come (River 949) - a lesser-played track of theirs and just as good as the big ones

Another few:

Pat Benatar - Heartbreaker (Rebel)
Underworld - Underneath the Radar (Gold 92.5) - this one gets played a bit more than it used to, but is still a great song
